Duo Rafael Beck & Felipe Montanaro | Brazilian Instrumental Music

FELIPE MONTANARO

Felipe Montanaro

Currently 20 years old, Felipe Montanaro is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and arranger born in São Paulo. He began studying music at the age of eight with the keyboard, and over more than 10 years explored piano, accordion, bass, guitar, and acoustic guitar, with piano as his main focus. He studied classical piano in his childhood, developing a solid technical foundation and an early interest in popular music.

In 2018, after moving to Bragança Paulista, he began studying jazz and Brazilian music with pianist Albano Sales. During the pandemic, he took lessons with Itiberê Zwarg, attended workshops, and completed online courses, including one at Juilliard School and another with André Marques. He also studied accordion with Toninho Ferragutti.

In 2021, he recorded the project Raízes, featuring special guests Toninho Ferragutti and Filó Machado.

In 2022, he performed his first solo piano concert at Teatro Carlos Gomes in Bragança Paulista, presenting a repertoire that combined original compositions with reinterpretations of works by Egberto Gismonti, Hermeto Pascoal, and Astor Piazzolla. The concert’s success brought him back to the same stage in November 2023 for another sold-out performance.

Felipe is also a member of Trio Maniva, with whom he released the album Vol. 1, and he plays in the band of singer Fernanda Ouro.
