FANTASIA BRASIL
lutist Rafael Beck and pianist Felipe Montanaro present their debut album, Fantasia Brasil.
Released by the prestigious label Biscoito Fino, the project features a repertoire of works by some of the greatest names in Brazilian music, including Tom Jobim, Djavan, Hermeto Pascoal, Jacob do Bandolim, and Ivan Lins—who also makes a special appearance on the track Galopes Dance, a piece of his own that he had kept and generously offered to the Duo.
In the Tom Jobim medley of Estrada do Sol and Chovendo na Roseira, the piano reveals moments influenced by French composer Claude Debussy.
Another inspiration is found in the arrangements of renowned Armenian composer and arranger Tigran Hamasyan, which served as the foundation for the track Pedro Brasil.
In the choro Receita de Samba, the recording features a unique arrangement for two pianos.
On Hermeto Pascoal’s Frevo Novo, the Duo created a musical interlude based on the harmony of the improvisation.
Alongside these celebrated works, the Duo also presents its first original composition, Tema pra Ricardo, titled in honor of sound engineer Ricardo Camera from Trama NaCena Studios, where the album was recorded.
